Could a common cholesterol drug help fight ovarian cancer?

NCT ID NCT04457089

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase study tested whether adding simvastatin, a common cholesterol-lowering drug, to standard chemotherapy could slow cancer progression in women with recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian cancer. 18 participants took simvastatin alongside carboplatin and liposomal doxorubicin. The main goal was to see if patients could stick with the treatment, and researchers also tracked cancer markers and survival time.
