Could your own immune cells fight ovarian cancer? tiny trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07651124
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing whether a patient's own tumor-fighting immune cells (called TILs) can be safely used to treat recurrent ovarian cancer. Researchers take a sample of the tumor, grow the immune cells in a lab, and then inject them back into the patient. Only 6 people will take part, and the main goal is to check for side effects, not yet to see if it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for recurrent ovarian cancer using a patient's own immune cells.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early safety trial with only 6 participants, so it is too small to prove effectiveness. The treatment involves chemotherapy and high-dose IL-2, which can cause serious side effects.
