New scoring system could give doctors early warning for newborn kidney injury

NCT ID NCT07202858

Summary

This study is testing a new scoring system called the STARZ score to see if it can predict kidney injury in newborns earlier than current blood tests. Researchers will follow 140 newborns in a hospital's intensive care unit to check if the score accurately identifies which babies are at risk. The goal is to help doctors spot problems sooner so they can provide better care and improve outcomes for these vulnerable infants.
