Seaweed protein tested as potential liver disease treatment
NCT ID NCT07271576
Summary
This study is testing whether a natural protein from spirulina algae, called phycocyanin, can help treat liver scarring (fibrosis and cirrhosis). Researchers will give the supplement or a placebo to 10 adult patients for at least 4 weeks to see if it reduces liver stiffness and lowers blood markers of liver damage. The goal is to see if this natural compound can help control the progression of liver disease.
