NCT ID NCT03853356

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a material called Orthoss®, made from granules, to help bones in the spine fuse together after surgery. The trial includes 65 adults with lower back problems like slipped discs or narrowing of the spine canal. Doctors will check if the bones fuse properly and if patients feel better over 24 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Orthoss® granules (bone graft extender)

What this could lead to

If successful, Orthoss® could provide a safe and effective option to help spine bones fuse together after surgery, potentially reducing the need for additional bone grafts.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (65 people) with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. The main risk is that the fusion may not occur as expected, requiring further surgery.
