Spinal zaps plus rehab may boost MS hand control
NCT ID NCT07152145
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a non-invasive device that sends mild electrical currents to the spinal cord (tSCS) can improve upper limb function in people with multiple sclerosis. Sixty participants will receive either active stimulation or a sham (inactive) version during rehabilitation exercises twice a week for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see if the treatment improves hand speed and coordination, measured by the 9-Hole Peg Test.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
transcutaneous electrical spinal stimulation (tSCS) device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-invasive way to improve hand and arm movement for people with MS, potentially making daily tasks easier.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 60 participants, and it uses sham stimulation as a comparison. The improvement may be small or not last long, and individual results can vary.
