Spinal adjustment for back pain: does it really work?

NCT ID NCT07403500

First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests if spinal manipulation (a type of hands-on back treatment) can reduce pain within 7 to 10 days for people with recent low back pain (less than 3 months). About 416 adults with moderate to severe pain will be randomly assigned to receive either spinal manipulation or a different manual therapy. The goal is to see if spinal manipulation offers meaningful short-term relief compared to other hands-on techniques.
