Summary

This study looked at whether giving a low dose of magnesium sulfate during lower back surgery can help reduce pain afterward. Sixty adults having lumbar spine surgery received either magnesium or a placebo. The goal was to see if magnesium could lower pain scores and the need for stronger painkillers like opioids.
