Summary

This study uses advanced MRI to examine whether a deformity in the upper spinal canal is linked to syringomyelia (fluid-filled cavities in the spinal cord) in people with Chiari malformation type I. Researchers will compare MRI scans from 50 adults with Chiari malformation, with or without syringomyelia, to measure the shape of the central spinal canal. The goal is to better understand the connection between these two conditions.
