First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether different sounds—like birdsong, traffic noise, or white noise—can help reduce pain in people with fibromyalgia, a condition causing widespread pain. 88 adults with fibromyalgia listened to four types of sounds (natural, urban, broadband, and silence) for 20 minutes each, one week apart. Researchers measured pain before and after each session to see if any sound environment offered relief.
