First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests whether taking a 500 mg sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) pill twice daily for one month can prevent blood pressure spikes during dialysis in people with chronic kidney disease. The trial will include 40 adults on long-term dialysis who have low bicarbonate levels and regularly experience a rise in blood pressure during treatment. Participants will receive either the active pill or a placebo to see if the intervention helps control blood pressure during dialysis sessions.
