Summary

This study looked at how experiencing social rejection based on race affects sleep and nighttime heart function. About 139 African American and Caucasian adults spent two nights in a sleep lab—one after a rejection task and one after a neutral task. Researchers measured how long it took to fall asleep and how well they slept, to see if rejection caused worse sleep and higher blood pressure.
