Low-Nicotine cigarettes tested as quit aid for pain patients on opioid treatment

Summary

This study looks at whether switching to very low nicotine cigarettes can reduce cravings, withdrawal, and pain in daily smokers who have chronic pain and are on buprenorphine for opioid use disorder. About 60 participants will be randomly assigned to either very low nicotine or normal nicotine cigarettes for several weeks. Researchers will track smoking habits, pain levels, and withdrawal symptoms to see if this approach helps people cut down or quit.
