Researchers probe hidden nerve damage as potential source of unexplained pain in children

NCT ID NCT05645874

Summary

This study aimed to first establish what normal nerve fiber density looks like in the skin of healthy children. Researchers then compared these normal levels to children with various neurodevelopmental disorders to see if reduced nerve fibers might be an unrecognized cause of pain and other symptoms. The goal was to gather knowledge to improve future diagnosis and understanding of these conditions.
