Summary

This study looks at whether sleep problems before surgery are linked to slower mental recovery in older adults after spinal anesthesia. Researchers will also measure a brain hormone called melanin-concentrating hormone in spinal fluid and blood. The goal is to better understand why some patients experience confusion or memory issues after surgery.
