Double breathing trouble: uncovering the hidden heart danger

NCT ID NCT05237505

Summary

This study aims to understand why people who have both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea face a much higher risk of heart problems and death. Researchers will compare 240 adults with either condition alone or both together, measuring heart health markers. For those with both conditions, the study will test whether using a special nighttime breathing machine or overnight oxygen therapy for six months better protects the heart.
