First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a sleep coaching program could help young adults (ages 18-26) with type 1 diabetes sleep longer and improve their blood sugar levels. Participants received personalized sleep advice and weekly check-ins over several weeks. The goal was to see if better sleep habits could lead to better diabetes management and glucose control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sleep self-management coaching (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug way to help young adults with type 1 diabetes improve their blood sugar control by sleeping better.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 39 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention is behavioral and may not work for all individuals.
