500 patients to reveal which chemo port dressings cause skin problems

NCT ID NCT07158879

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study will follow 500 adults starting chemotherapy with a chest port (a small device under the skin to deliver drugs). The goal is to measure how often skin reactions like itching or redness happen from the dressing that covers the port. Researchers will also look for factors that increase the risk of these reactions, such as the type of dressing or the chemotherapy drugs used.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify which dressings or treatments cause fewer skin reactions, leading to better comfort for chemotherapy patients.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not testing a new treatment. It may not find clear risk factors, and results may not apply to all patients.
