Scientists probe why skin heals differently with age

NCT ID NCT02755584

Summary

This study aimed to understand how aging cells behave during wound healing. Researchers took small skin samples from healthy young adults (20-39) and older adults (70+) to see if 'senescent' cells—which have stopped dividing—appear after injury and if their numbers differ with age. The goal was to gather basic knowledge that might one day help treat age-related conditions like diabetes.
