New drug combo shows promise for Tough-to-Treat breast cancer

NCT ID NCT05445908

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 study tests a new drug called SKB264, alone or with another drug KL-A167, in 175 people with advanced HER2-negative breast cancer that hasn't been treated before. The goal is to see if the combination is safe and can shrink tumors. Participants are split into groups based on cancer type (triple-negative or HR+/HER2-) and randomly assigned to get SKB264 alone or with KL-A167.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SKB264 (a drug) and KL-A167 (another drug)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for advanced HER2-negative breast cancer, potentially shrinking tumors and delaying disease progression.

What could go wrong

This is an early phase 2 trial with a small number of participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Side effects from the drugs could be serious, and the combination may not work better than SKB264 alone.
