New drug could boost stroke recovery after clot removal

NCT ID NCT07552610

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding the drug sivelestat sodium to standard clot-removal treatment helps people recover better after a stroke caused by a large blood vessel blockage. The drug aims to reduce brain inflammation that can limit recovery even after the clot is removed. About 868 adults aged 18-80 will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo, and their level of disability will be measured after 90 days.
