SISTER study: peer support may boost cancer treatment completion

NCT ID NCT04930159

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether group or one-on-one peer support helps Black patients with endometrial cancer complete their treatment and feel less isolated. About 252 participants will be randomly assigned to group support, one-on-one peer calls, or usual care. The main goal is to see if social support improves how much of the planned treatment they actually receive.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

social support (group or one-on-one peer support)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could show that structured social support helps Black patients complete their cancer treatment and feel less isolated.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small, early-stage behavioral study. The support may not significantly improve treatment completion or social isolation, and results may not apply to other groups.
