Can a common drug boost brain blood flow in Alzheimer's gene carriers?

NCT ID NCT05386914

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 07, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This early-stage study looks at whether sirolimus, an FDA-approved drug, can increase blood flow to the brain in healthy adults aged 45-65. Some participants carry a gene (APOE4) that raises Alzheimer's risk, while others do not. The goal is to understand how the drug affects brain and lung blood flow, not to treat or cure Alzheimer's.
