New 3D heart scan could improve care for kids born with one ventricle

NCT ID NCT05262907

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study is testing a new 3D ultrasound technique to see if it can accurately measure heart size and function in children and young adults born with a single ventricle (a heart with only one pumping chamber). Researchers will compare this method to standard tests like echocardiograms and cardiac MRIs. The goal is to find a simpler, safer way to monitor these patients over time. About 100 participants of any age with a single ventricle will be enrolled.
