New imaging method peers inside breast tumors without surgery

NCT ID NCT02284919

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests a new imaging method using a radioactive tracer called [18F]ISO-1 to measure sigma-2 receptors in breast cancer. These receptors are linked to how fast cancer cells multiply. About 30 adults with known or suspected breast cancer will receive a PET/CT scan to see if the tracer's uptake matches lab tests of cell growth. The goal is to gather knowledge, not to treat the disease.
