New pain block may reduce opioid use and breathing risks in shoulder surgery
NCT ID NCT07253740
First seen Dec 04, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested two types of nerve blocks—interscalene and infraspinatus-teres minor—to see which provides better pain relief after shoulder surgery. Sixty adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery were randomly assigned to receive one of the two blocks. The main goal was to measure how much opioid pain medicine they needed in the first 24 hours after surgery, along with pain scores and effects on breathing. The results could help choose a safer pain management option.
