Which shot works best for shoulder arthritis? new study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT04949087

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two common shoulder injections—corticosteroids and platelet-rich plasma (PRP)—to see which provides better pain relief for people with advanced shoulder arthritis. About 200 adults with bone-on-bone arthritis will receive one of the two injections and report their pain levels over time. The goal is to find a treatment that can delay or prevent the need for shoulder replacement surgery.
