Study tests cutting Seizure-Prevention drug time in half for new moms

NCT ID NCT00344058

Summary

This study looked at whether a shorter course of magnesium sulfate is just as safe and effective as the standard longer course for preventing seizures after delivery in women with mild preeclampsia. Researchers compared giving the medication for 12 hours versus 24 hours after birth. The goal was to see if the shorter treatment worked just as well while allowing mothers to recover faster with less medication.
