Summary

This study tested a shorter course of radiation followed by a chemotherapy combination (TASOX) in 13 people with intermediate-risk rectal cancer. The goal was to shrink tumors before surgery. Results showed the treatment was safe and helped reduce tumor stage, allowing for successful removal. Some patients who had a complete response avoided surgery entirely.
