Shiatsu shows promise for fatigue in arthritis study

NCT ID NCT05433168

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether shiatsu, a type of bodywork using finger pressure, can reduce fatigue in people with axial spondyloarthritis (a form of arthritis affecting the spine). 72 adults with the condition were randomly assigned to receive shiatsu sessions or continue usual care, then switched groups. The main goal was to see if shiatsu improved fatigue scores on a standard questionnaire. The study is complete, but results are not yet reported.
