First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether empagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can protect the kidneys and heart in people who have received a heart transplant. Heart transplant patients often face kidney and heart problems due to their condition and required medications. The trial will give 200 veterans either empagliflozin or a placebo daily for 12 months to see if it improves kidney function and reduces risks.
