Blood markers may reveal breast Cancer's next move
NCT ID NCT07297134
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether certain substances in the blood can help predict where breast cancer might spread. Researchers will measure levels of a protein called PTEN and specific microRNAs in blood samples from 160 women: 80 with metastatic breast cancer, 40 with early-stage breast cancer, and 40 healthy volunteers. The goal is to develop a non-invasive blood test that could guide doctors in monitoring and treating breast cancer more effectively.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that helps doctors predict where breast cancer might spread, enabling more personalized monitoring and treatment planning.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. The findings may not translate into a reliable clinical test, and the biomarkers identified may not be specific or sensitive enough for routine use.
