Could a smaller surgery spare the colon in early cancer?

NCT ID NCT06652672

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study is for people with early-stage colon cancer (stage I) who currently need a standard surgery that removes part of the colon. The new approach uses a special dye to find and remove only the tumor and the first lymph node, leaving more of the colon intact. The goal is to see if this gentler surgery works just as well at preventing cancer from coming back over 3 years. About 341 adults will take part, choosing either the new or standard surgery.
