New drug trial aims to slow Alzheimer's by calming brain inflammation

NCT ID NCT04804241

Summary

This study is testing whether a drug called Senicapoc can slow the progression of early Alzheimer's disease. Researchers believe it works by reducing inflammation in the brain. The trial will involve about 55 people with mild memory problems or early Alzheimer's, who will take either the drug or a placebo for one year. The main goal is to see if the drug improves memory test scores and lowers signs of inflammation in the blood and spinal fluid.
