Could a diabetes drug help liver transplant patients control blood sugar and weight?

NCT ID NCT05195944

First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether semaglutide (a once-daily pill) works better than sitagliptin (another diabetes drug) at controlling blood sugar and body weight in people who have had a liver transplant and have poorly controlled diabetes. About 58 adults who are at least 3 months post-transplant will take one of the two drugs for a set period. The goal is to see if semaglutide can improve diabetes management and weight without causing safety issues.
