Hypnosis app aims to tame hot flashes for breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06552091

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a guided digital self-hypnosis program can reduce hot flashes in women with breast cancer who are on hormone therapy. Hot flashes are a common side effect that often leads patients to stop treatment, raising the risk of cancer returning. Over three weeks, 76 participants will practice daily self-hypnosis sessions, and researchers will track changes in hot flash frequency and severity, as well as quality of life and sleep.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

guided digital self-hypnosis sessions

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to manage hot flashes, helping patients stick with their hormone therapy and improve their quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 76 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Self-hypnosis may not work for all, and the effect might be modest.
