Less may be more: smaller lung surgery tested against standard removal

Summary
This study compares two types of surgery for people with small (≤2 cm) lung adenocarcinoma that does not have aggressive features. One surgery removes only the part of the lung with the tumor (segmentectomy), while the other removes the entire lobe (lobectomy). The goal is to see if the smaller surgery works just as well in preventing the cancer from coming back, while possibly preserving more lung function. About 690 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgeries.
