First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at 60 children aged 3-8 years who needed a procedure to close a hole in their heart. Researchers compared standard general anesthesia to a lighter sedation using two medicines (dexmedetomidine and ketamine) plus numbing at the catheter insertion site. They measured heart rate and blood pressure to see which approach kept children more stable during the procedure.
