First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of two sedative drugs, dexmedetomidine and esketamine, can reduce the risk of delirium (sudden confusion) in older adults (60+) after surgery in the intensive care unit (ICU). Delirium is common in the ICU and can lead to worse outcomes. The trial will involve 100 participants and compare the combo to standard care, measuring delirium, sleep quality, and pain over 7 days.
