Summary
This study looks at whether combining two sedatives—dexmedetomidine and esketamine—can reduce delirium (sudden confusion) in older patients recovering in the ICU after surgery. Delirium is common and can lead to worse outcomes. The trial will involve 100 adults aged 60 and older who are expected to stay in the ICU at least one night. Researchers will check for delirium twice daily for up to 7 days.
