First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a mix of two sedatives (dexmedetomidine and esketamine) to older patients in the ICU after surgery can lower their chances of developing delirium—a state of sudden confusion. About 100 people aged 60 and older who are expected to stay in the ICU for at least one night will take part. The goal is to find a safer way to keep patients calm and comfortable while reducing side effects.
