New sedation cocktail aims to protect older brains after surgery
NCT ID NCT07151716
Summary
This study is testing if combining two sedative drugs, dexmedetomidine and esketamine, can reduce the risk of delirium in older patients recovering from surgery in the intensive care unit (ICU). Delirium is a serious confusion that can lead to longer hospital stays and long-term problems. Researchers will compare this drug combination to standard care in 100 patients to see if it lowers delirium rates and improves sleep and pain control.
