Could a sticker on your skin reveal hidden clues about acne and eczema?
NCT ID NCT07549828
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a new, non-invasive way to collect and analyze skin oil (sebum) using a simple adhesive patch called Sebutape. Researchers will recruit 200 people, including healthy volunteers and patients with acne, eczema, psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The goal is to develop a standardized method to measure skin chemicals and microbes, which could eventually help diagnose or monitor skin conditions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sebutape sampling and topical antibiotic ointment (Bacitracin/Polymyxin B/Neomycin)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple, non-invasive skin test to help diagnose or monitor skin conditions like acne and eczema.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage method development study, not a treatment trial. It may not identify useful biomarkers or lead to a practical clinical test.
