Seaweed crackers: a superfood delivery system?
NCT ID NCT07508735
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how well healthy adults absorb certain nutrients from crackers made with seaweed (Himanthalia elongata). Ten volunteers will eat both seaweed crackers and plain crackers on different days, and their blood and urine will be tested. The goal is to see if these nutrients can be effectively delivered through a simple snack.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Seaweed (Himanthalia elongata) fortified cracker
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help design foods that deliver seaweed nutrients more effectively.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 10 healthy people. It measures absorption, not health effects, so results may not apply to the general population.
