Could pelvic floor training straighten scoliosis curves?
NCT ID NCT07742670
First seen Aug 03, 2026 · Last updated Aug 05, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This trial tests whether adding pelvic floor muscle training to standard scoliosis-specific exercises can better reduce spine curvature in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. Participants aged 10-18 with mild to moderate curves will be randomly assigned to either exercises alone or exercises plus pelvic floor training for three months. The study measures changes in the spine's curve and related pelvic parameters to see if the combined approach offers extra benefit.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Scoliosis-specific three-dimensional exercises combined with pelvic floor muscle training
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this combined exercise approach could offer a non-surgical way to slow or reduce spine curvature in teens with scoliosis.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and early, so results may not apply broadly. Exercise benefits can vary, and the added pelvic floor training may not provide extra improvement.
