First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a targeted exercise program can slow or correct spine curvature in adolescents with mild idiopathic scoliosis. Sixty teens aged 10-17 with curves between 10-25 degrees will do three one-hour sessions per week for 12 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in spine angle, rotation, and balance using X-rays and 3D imaging.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Scoliosis-specific exercise program

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a non-surgical way to manage mild scoliosis and prevent curves from worsening in teens.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 participants. The exercises may not stop curve progression, and results may not apply to all types of scoliosis.
