Can a soccer Star's story change how kids see mental health?

NCT ID NCT07324265

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a story about a famous soccer player who had a mental health condition to a standard school lesson helps 5th graders feel less stigma toward peers with mental health problems. About 150 students in Tokyo will take part, with some classes getting the extra story and others just the regular lesson. Researchers will measure changes in stigma, knowledge, and willingness to seek help right after the lesson and again 2-3 months later. Since this is a small pilot, results will help design a larger future study.
