Small study hopes to personalize anesthesia for liver transplant patients

NCT ID NCT06909942

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This completed study looked at 3 liver transplant patients to see if muscle loss (sarcopenia) changes how the body responds to the muscle relaxant rocuronium. Researchers measured hand grip strength and used a questionnaire to diagnose sarcopenia before surgery, then tracked how long the drug lasted. The goal was to find if lower doses could be used safely, potentially reducing time spent in the hospital and on a ventilator.
