New drug combo aims to tackle deadly pancreatic cancer

NCT ID NCT07665684

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new drug called samuraciclib added to standard chemotherapy for people with a specific type of advanced pancreatic cancer (basal-like). The goal is to find the safest dose and see if the combination helps shrink tumors or slow the cancer. About 67 adults with newly diagnosed metastatic pancreatic cancer will take part.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

samuraciclib (a CDK7 inhibitor) combined with gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel chemotherapy

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for a hard-to-treat type of pancreatic cancer, potentially improving how long patients live or how well they respond to therapy.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 67 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The drug combination may cause severe side effects or fail to improve outcomes compared to standard chemo alone.
