Can a simple tool help you cut salt and boost potassium for better blood pressure?
NCT ID NCT07025928
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is testing a new educational tool called the Decreased Salt High Potassium (DSHP) Tool, designed to help adults with high blood pressure reduce their salt intake and eat more potassium-rich foods. About 190 participants from two clinics in Singapore will either receive the tool plus standard care, or standard care alone. Researchers will measure changes in urinary sodium and potassium levels, blood pressure, and body mass index over 24 weeks to see if the tool is helpful and practical.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Decreased Salt High Potassium (DSHP) Tool (educational resource)
What this could lead to
If effective, this tool could offer a simple, low-cost way for people with high blood pressure to better manage their condition through diet.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study, so results may not apply broadly. The tool's success depends on people actually changing their eating habits, which can be hard to sustain.
